Men of Melchizedek was formed in response to Catholic priests, bishops and Vatican officials who request urgent, confidential assistance in finding solutions to the proper care and treatment of priests in need or during times of crisis.
The purpose of MOM is to facilitate help for priests experiencing difficulties in their personal life
and priestly ministry.
We accomplish our mission by utilizing a network of experts in both canon law and civil law, in the psychological sciences, finance and spirituality. Men of Melchizedek offers non-judgmental support and life-time accompaniment for the priests we serve who are in need, at times in a state of crisis, including those suffering through the horror of an accusation of sexual abuse.
When priests are experiencing intense difficulties, they often don’t know where to turn for knowledgeable, urgent, confidential support. Their first phone call, text message, email or face-to-face interaction will often determine the outcome of their situation, for better or worse.
The first point of contact for priests needing immediate, confidential assistance from our experienced support team is our president who, over the past twenty years, has helped thousands of Catholic priests.
In our experience, even some of the seemingly insignificant troubles that a Catholic priest faces in his personal life or priestly ministry can and will become exponentially more serious, depending on who he confides in, or who he doesn’t confide in and when.
This is paramount to our concerns for priests’ privacy when they are experiencing difficulties, especially regarding possible legal ramifications, both in civil law and the law of the Church. The sooner Men of Melchizedek gets involved with the troubles a priest is facing, the better the outcome. Because of this, Men of Melchizedek offers an emergency hotline for Catholic priests who need immediate, confidential assistance.
Finally, many priests suffer financially, some just to be able to afford the basic necessities of life, and then there are unexpected car repairs, sudden illness, loss of job, missed rent payments or utility bills. Others, because of their advancing age and failing health, are unable to pay for all their medical needs, which can truly be life-threatening. Men of Melchizedekwill provide grants to these struggling priests who are confronted with financial hardship, often with nowhere else to turn for life-saving support.
“Tu es sacerdos in aeternum secundum ordinem Melchisedech!”
You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek!
